I shopped there this summer and in addition of course to the fact that Canada is not actually a fashion mecca the clothing was about the same price as in the US -- in fact we bought a dress by a well known international designer of moderately upscale women's clothing and it was EXACTLY the same price as the same dress in my home town. [and before someone comes in with the 'but the same price in Canadian dollars would be MUCH less in American dollars -- let me add that of course by 'same price' I mean just that i.e. the dress was about $300 Canadian and about $200 American.] Mecca Clothing: I typically won't buy clothes based on brand name alone. I'm not much on Hillfiger because he had (and still does) alot of red white and blue. I'm sorry, but I'm just not that patriotic. I have been known to be a fan of Mecca brand clothing and Paco also. Why? I really don't know. I kinda dig South Pole stuff too although, I think they're considered old now. I really don't care. I was just glad Burlington Coat Factory finally got some new "urban" gear because I copped the Mecca and Paco stuff I liked and they just didn't wanna seem to get newere stuff. Mecca Clothing: Thanks to Hip Hop being so far in the lead with fashion and the influence that comes with that, there is no "urban clothing". To me, Mecca and Phat Farm are DKNY and Ralph Lauren--but there are black faces(who don't really own their companies) representing the former. The clothes are too over-priced and too much "jiggy" if you ask me. I try to do it like Hip Hop started out, by that I mean, making what I already own "fresh" and rocking it that way. I wear And 1 "Skip To My Lou's" or Reebok EJ32(Edgerrin James) in the tan color. Mecca Clothing: So, have urban clothing brands like Mecca, Lugz, Wu-Wear and Boss 'sold-out' because they are now very mainstream and easily accesible? Would you rock them? I never rock shit that's a walking advertisement. all those clothing companies seem to enjoy finding ways to have their name on their gear as large as possible. that shit is corny as hell.
