baby swing: After a frantic night with our 1 1/2 week old, we "resorted" to putting her in the baby swing to settle her down. It worked like a charm, BUT all the books say that a baby should not use a swing until he/she is 6 weeks old. None of them, unfortunately, say why! Can anyone tell me why? If possible, could you let me know before midnight tonite? (I'm hoping we won't need to know!)

baby swing: Use the swing to your hearts content!!! I have never heard of any adverse affects from the baby sleeping in the swing. Our daughter had a very severe case of Colic and that swing was a live saver, I wish I could bronze the swing!! There are times that she slept for three hours at a time in the swing and that was the only way to get her to stop screaming hyterically, other than putting her on the most expensive formula for colic, Nutramigen, but boy did that stuff work too. Thank God her colic only lasted three months, we would have been in the poor house if we had to continue with the formula her entire first year.

baby swing: It seems like a good idea, since the price of this product is quite a bit lower than the combined cost of a similar car seat/base and baby swing combination (although I understand that baby swings are not necessarily suitable for all babies -- you have to try it and see). The swing base is also a lot smaller than the typical baby swing.
