breast pumpI have the Medula mini electric breast pump which I bought 2 months ago for $65. I haven't had any problems with it yet. I pump twice a day, five days a week at work. The place where I purchased it warned me that they had been having some problems with the A/C adaptor. This one works on A/C or batteries. Medula had corrected the problem but they hadn't gotten the new shipment in yet. So if I had any problems with mine, I could return it and they would give me a new one.

breast pump: I bought my breast pump from the Austin Lactation Specialists. They had a wide variety of breast pumps that you could try before buying so you could get the one the works best for you. I didn't try the MagMag because the lady told me that it was the worst breast pump on the market. They said it pinched. But who knows?

breast pump: Has anyone used the small electric breast pump by Avent? I use their >bottles, and this pumps directly into the bottles. It costs around $60. >I currently use the Medela manual pump and find it too much trouble, >frankly, but I don't pump often enough to warrent renting a big electric >model. >

breast pump: I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I would like to answer your question. Generally speaking you do not need a breast pump for at least 4 to 6 weeks after the birth of your baby. So you have some time to look around and get all your info. I would say any good quality breast pump is worth the investment. To rent or buy depends on how much you are willing to spend. Most of the time to rent for 6 months you might as well buy because the money is the same, especially if this is your first baby.

breast pump: I own a manual breast pump and use an electric pump at work (the electric "base" is provided at my workplace!). I actually like my manual pump, though I have never used a battery operated pump. When I have a good letdown, I can get 3.5 oz (the capacity of the container) in just a few minutes. Normally, however :), it takes closer to 10-20 minutes. I have a model from Sears that only cost $11, so I ended up buying two. It looks like a tall, thin, beaker with a close- fitting tube (topped with a breast cone) inside of it.
