My husband and I were looking to buy a high chair yesterday and we >noticed that there are some on wheels starting at $79.99 in Toys'R'Us. >We really liked the idea but I wonder now: Is it helpful indeed to have >wheels? Yikes! A highchair with WHEELS? To use at home?? (This was my first reaction...) high chair: This depends a lot on when they start sitting well and when they are able to understand that they are supposed to sit at the table to eat the meal. We started putting our daughter in a high chair when she was about nine-ten months old, and then she moved to a booster seat somewhere around two years old, I think. Our son, however, has some physical delays and he could not sit up in the high chair until about 7-8 months ago. He's almost 2yo now, and I just can't see him sitting in a booster seat without falling out. I suspect he'll be in the high chair for a few more months at least. high chair: A good high chair can be used for several children. We still have the same chair we used with our first child, and it really doesn't show any structural signs of age (although there are plenty of stains, etc.). Even the vinyl covering on the pads is still intact. high chair: As my first reaction implies, I'm not really sure that convenient would be a good description. Our daughter liked to play with her high chair when she wasn't actually in it -- she would sit under it and pretend that she was in a space ship or car and go all over the world/universe. When she was hungry and first starting to pull up to standing, she often crawled straight to the high chair, then pulled up on it and tried to climb in on her own. I personally wouldn't want to have wheels on the chair in either of these scenarios. We pretty much use the chair in only one place in the apartment, and I don't see much reason to want to wheel it around all over the place (although it is light enough to be carried easily if we decide to eat in the living room for a change). high chair: desparately need a high chair for my 8 mo kid. I wonder if it is OK to buy a : booster seat instead of a high chair. Does it work as well? I don't want to : spend so much money if there is a cheaper thing that has the same functions. A : friend of mine tells that booster seats are not very safe. If there is : somebody out there who used a booster seat, let me hear from you. high chair: We use a high chair at home but have a booster seat for travel. It really hasn't gotten much use except when we were at John's parents house and his brother and his family were there also. When Kaitlyn first started sitting in the booster seat, Jessy was still using the high chair. Now Jessy and Skylar (2 and nearly 3 right now) sit in big people chairs and Kaitlyn uses the high chair.
