Now that our Nursery Decorating Party has been a success, I thought I would tell you all about it! Years ago (like 5?), my husband and I were driving on the interstate and passed an old VW bug that was painted some basic color, but then had hand-prints and foot-prints (and lots of other prints - lips, butts!) painted all over it. We really liked it and both of us said something like "We could paint a nursery like that." nursery decorating: As the story goes, we got pregnant in June and at first toyed with a "Helping Hands Party" to tell people about the pregnancy. We weren't sure how many people would show up at such a party, so we waited and called it a Nursery Decorating Party. All we told them was to wear washable clothes because they would be doing something with latex paint. So we got a quart of paint of each color (blue, red, green and yellow) and had people put their handprints all over the walls. Actually, all over the top 2/3 of the wall - my husband painted a stripe all around the room at about 3 feet. nursery decorating: That was a really neat idea about having a nursery decorating party. When we found out that I was pregnant for the first time last fall. (I'm expecting #2 in July 1995), we wanted to do something different. We didn't want to get really commercialized, plus we didn't have a lot of money to spend. Both of us love Dr. Seuss and there isn't any Dr. Seuss paraphanelia(sp?). (Actually, a line of Dr. Seuss clothes is due to come out at JC Penny's this winter). nursery decorating: I am sure that I'll be driving DH crazy with all the baby stuff I'm buying even before I'm sure I'm pregnant! I am such a nester. In fact, I chose the paint color for the second bedroom based on my probable nursery decorating scheme. :-) (We, fortunately, have our own office and room for all our crap -- DH and I share it, but at least having a baby won't displace anything except the old furniture that didn't fit anywhere else.)
